POOL GENERAL INFO

GENERAL INFORMATION ABOUT POOL PROJECT AND PLANNING :

While determining the reinforced concrete section, not only static requirements also covering materials are important. At the initial project phase when preparing detail, if the studies are done taking account of these subjects, problems, which will be encountered at the subsequent stages, would be minimized. For the perfect harmony with reinforced lateral section and special porcelain grip and anti-slides, it is recommended to contact with SANTEK A.?. and to consult the technical office.

Slope that will be given at the section is very important to overflow and clean the pool water correctly. Accordingly, slope 5% between the pool side and the overflow drain, proper overflowing of water, thus will provide collection of accumulated impurities on the surface. As for the other slope 2% is done the other side of the overflow drain to the reverse direction. The purpose of this slope is to prevent the polluted water mix with the pool water at the walking area. Another subject that is important to be reminded here, for overflowing equally of water from all around the pool, grip and anti-slide determining must be done by experts and with the help of level. Otherwise the water, for not overflowing equally, both the pool aesthetic wouldn’t be ensured and the water base wouldn’t be cleaned in some areas.

REINFORCED CONCRETE :

When excavation is done and blockage spread over, around the pool drainage line which will provide to draw away water coming outside, should not be forgotten. When the pool’s ground and curtains are being poured, all hydraulic links, discharge manholes, pipes, filters, lighting luminary buckets and all necessary concrete transition materials must be placed.

While avoiding being made structural joints (dilation) within the pool, around the pool leaving the dilation, jointing is mostly required. Between the pool filled with water and mostly soil base environmental corridor and static work different from each other, dilation must be done. One of the most important issues to be noted is that these structural joints never be covered with material. These joints must be watertight with materials like elastic silicone.

At the pools in terms of water sealing, at the stage of pouring concrete not to be left cold joint, if it is left, it should be noted that at the cold joints taking measures like water stop band etc.

If correction process with plaster and alum is needed on the surface after the stage of pouring concrete, the plaster if possible should be prepared with additive and the thickness should not be exceeded 8-15 mm. Larger correction of concrete thickness may cause breakages from the concrete surface. At the stage of reinforced-concrete, the accuracy of the measurements of pool is very important. Especially, at the race pools (Olympic swimming pool etc.) control and approval are needed by swimming federation in order for the competition to be held

WATERPROOFING :

After waterproofing which is convenient for the surface of pool, to control the water tightness and before making coating material with the purpose of preventing possible water loss, pool is filled with water and waited. Pool must be waited 15 days as filled with water. However this period should not be less than a week.

POOL COATING

It is recommended to use concavo-convex connecting pieces instead of making easy the cleaning during the usage and to unite pool’s ground and wall to be hygiene. Special section porcelain products which are ranged along swimming pools are classified as grip. This material with a special manufacture and baking shows perfect chemical, physical and mechanical specifications. Primarily grip and anti-slides must be set out at will one by one to the related parts of the pool and must be arranged until acquiring the intended slopes. This slope should be equal at each side of the pool and it should be supplied through a level. These controls must be done in company with experts. Products must be pasted, being preserved 5 mm jointing between the anti-slide and grips and being noticed the flatness of the parts which are in the pool.

It should not be forgotten that a successful execution process is not only depend on the quality of material. How and the by whom the process was performed is also as important as the material and the quality. After adhesive completely dried, jointing spaces between materials being discharged completely are filled with flexible or epoxy-based jointing packing material. Ordinary jointing packing material should never be used in order not to be affected by the water, air and the other environment factors. In pursuit of execution, cleaning works must be done quickly and with care. If the cleaning work can not be done with care or done late, there is no possibility to cleanup the leftovers which remained on the material.

It is recommended to use a plastic cover in order to protect the floor area and to avoid the dirt which is going to spring up from the construction works subsequent the ending of coating processes. After the pool material flooring ends, like iron cutting etc. processes should not be done around the pool. Even if at that moment not certain, after a while the damages of burrs on the materials are observed even if that moment cannot be observed.

Only when the construction, mechanical and electric systems completed and the laying mold processes at the garden finished, the pool water should be filled.

ABOUT POOL MAINTENANCE

?The water, at the well cared swimming pool is clearer than the sea water. However, in plenty of pools, adequate care can not be provided. Swimmers, who swim at public domain pools, absolutely have to abide to the hygienic measures. It is absolutely forbidden to enter the pool with sun oil and one should absolutely take a shower and pass his feet through disinfectant water before entering the pool.

Periodic maintenance of swimming pools should be done in time and definitely pool water should be brought a healthy environment. Multiuser big swimming pools should be closed to swimmers once in a week and should be done weekly maintenance. Users of swimming pools whom will keep informed, on the private information board should take place names of the people or company who take care of pool, type and brands of used chemical substances and similar cases. Pool water should not be emptied in winter. In winter, pool’s water should be left full.
Besides purity of water the ph value between 7, 2 and 7, 6 should be noted on the board which is going to fill the water.

After starting the circulation of pool’s water and giving shocking dose for disinfection, only the next day water chemical rate should be checked with test kit and values if normal should be entered.

It must be remembered that swimming at a healthy and clean pool, is only possible with regular maintenance.

WINTER MAINTENANCE

Also the maintenance of pool, during winter, the preparation of the pool to the season as material and spiritual, requires less maintenance.
In winter at the outdoor swimming pools, "freeze” which will occur when the pool’s temperature fall beneath the “0” °C, may cause harm of the coating materials. In order to destroy the negative impacts of freeze, taking some measures must be compulsory.

  1. - Pool water from its surface level, down approximately 30 cm.
  2. In order to prevent the ice layer which can be occurred on the pool surface, to the pool water surface hangs elastic ice pressure pads. (Number of the ice pressure pads are determined depending on the size of the pool and are placed with a special design.)
  3. At the pools which are left full, facilitating the spring cleaning measures should be taken in other words the formation of the algae and lime slumps must be prevented. Winter guard is a material which protects the pool water during winter, supplies ease to the spring cleaning, prevents the formation of the algae, stain and lime slumps.
  4. Pool water; pool is being absorbed from the bottom absorption after being circulated, heated 10-15°C, is given. Circulation is done approximately one quarter of the level of normal operating conditions.
  5. After taken the four measures above, additionally can be closed with tarpaulin or materials like heat-proof tarpaulin.

It is a major part of water slide. There are various construction types according to DIN-EN 1069 in terms of length, height, slope, shaping of the slide groove and distinct with the style of closed or open structure. Water slides have the flat-out section in its own pool or ending at the non-swimmers pool. Water depth and security gaps are according to valid standards. They are the flow lines that are bounded by treacherous water channels, free formed with keeping grooves. Big water flows are required for these. Security matters should be especially noted.
It is possible to make a several distinction between pools according to their type of use, purpose and structure. Primarily the swimming pools and ornamental pools, which are offering visual purposes, lead this discrimination. Here the pools that will constitute the basis for your said review are the pools “swimming purpose”. The swimming pools need to be taken to pre-separation according to the place where they were made indoor and outdoor pools (or both of them) and again the swimming pools need to be examined two different part according to their purpose of use and their size. These are; Private Home-Villas Pools (are included in the scope of UHE-2) Publicly Available Pools (Are included in the scope of TSE 11899)

Also pools can be categorized by construction forms. These are the pools that placed on land (without making any excavation) or been made as inlaid, and also ready pool types can be used which are manufactured according to reinforced concrete rules or prepared standard or not standard sizes, appareled with panel, backup, liner and facilities can be count within this group. It will be required to count flooded or with skimmer pools within all of these assessments according to their transmission techniques with filtration of floating materials activating the surface water of pools and to unite each pool, no matter what type of, with this formation. Surface water, which is transmitted to filtration with compulsory method, skimmers or surface water with flood system, which are qualified with the phrases of internal overflow, external overflow, one-sided overflow, from above overflow, constitute the criteria of integral design that we mentioned all pools. These public pools need to be discussed from their purposes and sizes. These are respectively;

PUBLICLY AVAILABLE TYPES OF SWIMMING POOLS (TSE 11899)
